East Terminal at Heathrow Airport
We have been involved since the outset of the decision to plan
for Heathrow East Terminal to replace Terminal 1 and Terminal
2.
Our role has been to provide all transport and traffic advice to
the team, working closely
with the architects on landside and airside road layouts.
Specific work has included:
- Forecourt capacity assessment and outline design, to cater for
courtesy and charter coaches, taxis, valet parking, kerb side
check-in and private cars
- Links into the wider central terminal area (CTA) road
network
- Detailed traffic engineering for retail delivery areas, airside
junctions and baggage hall access
- Production of the transport assessment to support the planning
application, a key part of which was demonstrating that
construction traffic would have a limited impact on the surrounding
public road network
- Assessing the impact of construction traffic within the CTA
itself and traffic management measures required during the
construction phase
